VTCANN
VTCANN is Vermont's largest cannabis industry event, held at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Burlington. The next event is scheduled for April 17–18, 2026.
| Location | Champlain Valley Expo, Burlington, VT |
|---|---|
| Next Date | April 17–18, 2026 |
| Attendance | ~2,500 |
| Exhibitors | ~150 |
| Focus | Industry networking, cultivation technology, regulatory updates, product showcases |
VTCANN serves as both an industry trade show and a public-facing event. For Vermont's 576 licensees, many of whom operate as sole proprietors or micro-businesses, VTCANN is one of the few opportunities to connect with the broader industry, discover new suppliers, and learn about regulatory changes directly from CCB staff and legislative advocates.
Vermont Growers Association (VGA)
The Vermont Growers Association is the primary advocacy organization for Vermont's small cannabis cultivators. In a state where 74% of cultivators hold Tier 1 licenses, the VGA represents the interests of the growers who define Vermont's craft identity.
Key VGA activities include:
- Annual policy agendas presented to the legislature and CCB
- Appellation program proposal: The VGA has championed a geographic designation system modeled on wine appellations
- Retail licensing petition: The VGA petitioned the CCB to reopen retail licensing after the November 2024 pause, arguing that the retail bottleneck harms cultivators more than oversupply
- Craft Pledge promotion: Encouraging retailers to stock Vermont-grown products
Cannabis Retailers Association of Vermont (CRAV)
Where the VGA represents growers, CRAV represents retailers. CRAV's most visible initiative is the CannaTrail Passport program, which connects 23 dispensaries in a tourism-focused stamp-collecting experience. Beyond the CannaTrail, CRAV advocates for retailer interests on issues like fee reductions, operating hours, and advertising regulations.
Heady Vermont & Craft State Media
Heady Vermont, now operating as part of Craft State Media, is the state's leading cannabis journalism outlet. In a media landscape where mainstream outlets often cover cannabis through a crime or novelty lens, Heady Vermont provides in-depth industry coverage — from licensing policy analysis to cultivator profiles to market data reporting.
The "Heady" name references Vermont's craft beer culture (The Alchemist's Heady Topper) and signals the publication's alignment with Vermont's artisan identity. Craft State Media has expanded coverage beyond cannabis to include broader Vermont craft economy reporting.
VTCANN takes place April 17–18, 2026 at the Champlain Valley Expo in Burlington. The event draws ~2,500 attendees and 150 exhibitors. Check vtcann.com for tickets and exhibitor information.
